This new and exciting role, with a September 2023 start, is a key step for our school as we seek to provide our new year 7 cohort with a more personalised transition program readying them for their exciting journey with us at Durrington.
The transition to high school is a key time for our children; it is vital that we invest time in teaching them how to become valued members of our school community and ready them for the challenges ahead. We also want every one of them to get fully involved in the wider life of the school (whatever their passion) participating in as many of the brilliant clubs, events and activities we have on offer. As year 7 leader you will lead (and be supported by) a team of 13 form tutors, an experienced deputy year lead and a full time, non-teaching pastoral manager. Alongside this core team, you will be able to draw on advice/support from a number of other specialist teams within school (including attendance, child protection, SEND and inclusion). We have a strong culture of working together and it will be the role of the successful candidate to ensure that each and every student is supported, whatever challenges they may face. Alongside our existing company leaders you will take responsibility for the attendance, wellbeing, behaviour and support all students in year 7 in your care.
At the end of the year students in year 7 will “graduate” into year 8 joining one of our existing company (house) teams for the remainder of their time at Durrington.
This exciting appointment will add to the strength and depth of our pastoral leadership across the school; the person appointed will be a part of the school’s extended leadership team and have gained from wider school leadership experience.
The opportunities for development in this role (both knowledge and skills) will be substantial and the successful applicant will be fully supported. We want to hear from you if you are:
a committed, ambitious and determined leader, wanting a new challenge or to step up into a wider school leadership position
driven, inspired by and committed to the success of each and every student
wanting to widen and deepen your pastoral knowledge by becoming part of our brilliant team of pastoral staff
