Lambeth Step Forward Recovery Cluster is a specialist supported accommodation service for adults with high to medium support needs for customers with Mental Health. The service operates from a number of hub sites across the borough. These posts will be based in both Kennington and Brixton, South London. Working patterns are 9:45pm-8:15am, on the basis of 4 days on and 3 days off.
Waking Night Support Workers will provide support to customers of the Lambeth Step Forward Recovery Cluster to help them develop the skills they need to meet with their established goals. You will work as part of team to promote social inclusion and independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices. Waking Night Support Workers will have a solid knowledge of mental health needs and medication supervision, as well as overseeing safety/security of the premises, in order to better meet the needs of their customers.
This role requires a valid Right to Work for the UK as Look Ahead are not a sponsoring organisation.
What you’ll do:
- Deliver all aspects of support to enable a customer with complex needs to develop independent living skills as appropriate to their individual needs.
- Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation.
- Undertake support planning and risk management.
- Deliver robust medication support informed by external partners and in compliance with our Medication Policy & Procedure
- Undertake a case load of customers with key work responsibilities.
- Maintain solid knowledge of relevant referral partnerships and specialist support agencies.
- Working together with family, primary and secondary health agencies to reduce risks and increase independence.
- Carry out security duties to ensure the safety of the customers and premises.
- Enable customers to make full use of community facilities by providing support as directed.
- Reporting any maintenance concerns to landlords and to management.
- Carry out support duties to enable customers to integrate into the community including by redirecting them to employment opportunities.
- Report any observations relating to customers welfare.
- Adhere to all the policies and procedures of Look Ahead Care, Support & Housing plus those specific to the project including any statutory requirements.
- Maintain records as required at the project.
- Participate in team meetings/reviews and the general development of the service.
- Undertake any other duties consistent with the grade and nature of the post as may be reasonably assigned.

What you’ll bring:
Essential:
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent or experience within charity/social care sector or mental health.
- At least 1 years’ experience of support work with people with mental health related support needs.
Desirable:
- Experience of working with vulnerable people.
