Our manufacturing client based in Chatham is seeking a Van Driver Warehouse Operative. Working in the Goods In and stores.

Location: training will be held in Gillingham, moving to Chatham site in July 2023

Hours: 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Thursday, 8.30am to 4pm Friday

Salary: £21,131.76 pa, paid monthly

Benefits: Bonus, 24 days annual leave + BH, pension, overtime, uniform, bonus

Van Driver Warehouse Operative Role Purpose:

To transport goods between local sites safely, to load goods on and off the van in a timely and safe manner.

Van Driver Warehouse Operative duties will include:

  • Responsible for collection of goods between Gillingham and Chatham sites.
  • Loading and unloading of the van between the two sites, counting and ensure correct stock accuracy for all goods loaded.
  • Required to pick and load the goods using the Reach or Counterbalance forklift trucks.
  • Responsible for the safe and secure transporting of goods.
  • Planning the route most efficiently with the Goods In Team leader based on Goods In requirements.
  • Accountable for van maintenance and service records to ensure compliant and road worthiness.
  • Required to help goods in team to load and unload import and exports delivery/collections as and when needed.
  • Record daily, weekly, and monthly mileage and fuel usage.
  • Report any stock or vehicle issues to the Team Leaders immediately.

Van Driver Warehouse Operative Person Specification

  • highly motivated and has a passion to contribute to the co’s success
  • GCSE in English and Mathematics or equivalent
  • Essential: Driving license Category B up to 3,500kg
  • Desirable: Understanding of stock control systems, Forklift license
  • Desirable: Stock control in a warehouse environment
  • Essential: Computer Literate with knowledge of Windows operating system
  • Desirable: SAP Business 1
  • WMS (Warehouse Management Systems)
