We are recruiting for and outstanding Physics Tutor who can teach pupils through a range of ages and abilities.

You will work with students requiring additional support or preparing for GCSE, AS and A Level examinations in Physics, and additionally be able to support students preparing for university.

There will be a range of opportunities within Harrow School Online, including delivering tutoring, revision sessions and teaching Tutor led Physics International Edexcel A level courses.

THE ROLE OF A TUTOR AT HARROW SCHOOL ONLINE

Harrow School Online is a new kind of school offering a fully online A level education, allowing pupils across the globe to enjoy the benefits of virtual learning and an international school community without leaving their homes. Our School is founded on the educational philosophy, practices and traditions of Harrow School, and delivered by Pearson through a bespoke online platform. We are seeking an outstanding A level teacher whose subject specialism is Physics..

As a Tutor you will be responsible for planning and delivering high quality 1:1 to 1:3 tutoring and teaching sessions. You will be working with students situated in the UK and across the world aged 11 to 21.

WHAT WILL A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE LOOK LIKE?

You will be a dynamic and effective Tutor who is able to engage, support and motivate pupils in online tuition sessions. We are looking for experienced and qualified educators with a proven tutoring track record and passion for Physics. All members of the tutor team are expected to conduct themselves in line with the school’s values: Courage, Honour, Humility and Fellowship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

• Plan for and attend an introductory session with the relevant student and parents and build strong working relationships with each of them.
• Conduct a needs analysis with the pupil and where relevant, their parent, and draw up a course outline proposing areas to be covered.
• Utilise Harrow School Online and Pearson content and develop and tailor resources to deliver 1:1 tutoring and small group tutoring up to 1:3.
• Employ appropriate pedagogies suited to the student(s) and learning objectives and maintain pace, engagement and appropriate behaviour when delivering sessions.
• Provide feedback on each tutoring session and each block of ten sessions.
• Adhere to all safeguarding, data privacy and security guidelines as outlined in the training.
• Attend and complete the training provided to the required standard
• Use an online platform to manage your availability for tutoring, and to review and manage booked tutoring sessions

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong knowledge of, and enthusiasm for Physics
• Previous experience of 1:1 tutoring with a demonstrable track record
• High expectations of pupils.
• Strong inter-personal and communication skills.
• A creative mind.
• Previous experience teaching experience of Physics at A level and GCSE.
• Previous experience supporting pupils preparing for university admissions examinations including STEP, MAT and TMUA.
• Impressive academic qualifications, including a good degree.
• Resonance with Harrow School Online’s ethos.
• The desire to continuously develop their teaching practice formally and informally.
• Willingness to learn about, and become an advocate of, online learning technologies.
• Previous experience tutoring online is welcomed but is not a pre-requisite for the role.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Whilst we do not guarantee tutoring hours, we require an initial availability for a minimum of 4 hours per week, with this growing up to 20 hours per week, with the opportunity to be involved in other teaching and tutoring activities such as revision sessions.
• We are also looking for tutors who have flexibility with their time as there will be the need and plenty of opportunity to work outside regular hours including evenings and weekends to support students.
• A reliable internet connection and a desktop computer (PC or Mac). Tutoring cannot be delivered effectively via a tablet or a phone.
• You will not at any point have sight of any live papers relating to the qualification (from any Awarding Body) for which you are delivering tutoring.

Harrow School Online is a fully online, coeducational sixth form school offering an A level education to allow pupils across the globe to enjoy the benefits of virtual learning without leaving their homes.
