Position Title: Team Leader - Production

Location: Paneltex Somers, Long Stratton

Hours of work: 40 hours per week - Monday-Friday 0800-1630

Salary: £14.25 per hour

Role

The team leader will support the supervisor in delivering the strategic aims of the business as well as the daily and weekly targets for their own areas. A Team leader must be able to get the best out of their work colleagues. Though it is a hands-on role with a proportion of time on direct work, there will be a requirement to organise tasks such as inspection, fault finding, problem solving, QA and so forth. Much of the role will be spent focusing work colleagues on achieving high levels of performance and dealing with issues, whether these are technical, supply or staff related. The Build Shop Team Leader’s role is to set the daily/weekly allocation of labour within the Build Shop ensuring manpower resources are used efficiently and effectively throughout any given working period, optimizing activities to ensure products are completed cost-effectively, on time and meet the required quality standards. The Build Shop Team Leader is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment by ensuring all H&S requirements are followed. The Build Shop Team Leader works to continually improve the reduction of operating costs whilst improving production output and quality.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Set daily/weekly production programmes and communicate them to Build Shop team members.
• Organize workflow by assigning tasks to operators to meet the schedule issued by the Works Manager.
• Supervise, motivate, and coach employees.
• Ensure production output meets the required standards of quality and specifications.

• Ensure H&S guidelines and company standards are maintained.

• Monitor and maintain sufficient local stock levels to meet planned production schedule. Complete internal stock request proforma and submit to the Works Manager to minimise last minute purchasing.
• Lead by example, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace is maintained at all times.
• Communicate with team members utilising briefings and visual management, delivering Tool Box Talks with focus on safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
• Consistently promote high standards through personal example to ensure employees understand the standards and behaviours expected.

• Undertake employee’s performance appraisals, addressing employee performance and implementing corrective action plans.
