Job Description
ATP are currently looking for an Associate Level Chartered Building Surveyor to join the team based in Ilford. This is a full time, permanent position.
Responsibilities:
- To represent ATP at the highest level at all times
- Provide leadership, management and direction.
- Provide full ‘Architect’s Service’ as described in the RIBA Plan of Work and the “Standard Form of Agreement for the Appointment of an Architect”.
- Effectively assess team and individual strengths and use to their greatest ability and potential.
- Deliver a quality design service for all projects that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Provide and maintain high standards of design, construction and contract management, and support colleagues in maintaining equal standards and ensuring compliance.
- Prepare and check drawings and specifications, providing technical accuracy and compliance with appropriate standards.
- Provide building surveying and Party Wall advice to clients.
- Contribute to the achievement of ATP objectives.
- Identify new business opportunities and report to a Director
- Carry out duties to assist the running and management of ATP – duties to be agreed with a Director
- Demonstrate personal commitment to ATP and `lead by example` to staff members
- Oversee a team of Technical staff
- Prepare technical documentation and oversee production of drawings
- Thorough knowledge of and compliance with ATP procedures and standards
Qualities & Skills:
- Able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities
- Registration with the RICS
- Represents ATP at all times professionally through quality of work, attitude and appearance
- Strong Leadership Skills
- Excellent technical and construction understanding
- Ability to prepare specifications, party wall awards, and all other reports required from a building surveyor
- Good design understanding
- Sound knowledge of the planning process and policies, building regulations, NHBC standards, and all other necessary technical standards needed to fulfil the role
- Good drawing and document presentation skills
- Ability to use a variety of media in the development and documentation of a design project, including Illustrator, Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Use at a good level of AutoCAD in preparing architectural drawings
- Excellent attention to Detail and problem Solving Skills
- Written and Oral Communication Skills
- Manages day-to-day workload effectively, able to juggle varied demands on time, and ability to Work Well Under Pressure
- Completes work accurately and to agreed requirements; organised; keeps desk tidy;

This job description reflects the core activities of the role although there will be changes in the emphasis of duties as required from time to time. There is a requirement to recognise this and adopt a flexible approach to work.
Salary and Benefits:
