Thames Reach runs projects and services that help to end homelessness in London. We work directly with homeless people on the streets and in hostels. We work to prevent vulnerable people from becoming homeless. We help formerly homeless people get their lives back on track. We help people find work and access training and volunteering opportunities.

About this role…

We are looking for a Support Worker to join the team at Lambeth High Street, our hostel and supported housing project that specialises in working with people that have a mental health diagnosis and have experienced homelessness. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to develop their knowledge and skills and has a passion for supporting vulnerable adults.

You will:

  • Liaise with, signpost, and support client engagement with specialist agencies as appropriate e.g. drug treatment services, community mental health teams, doctors, community groups etc.
  • Provide person-centred support to individuals and co-produce all plans to assist them to achieve their aims and ambitions
  • Support and encourage clients to become more independent
  • Maximise clients income and reduce service charge arrears
  • Increase positive move on in the hostel
  • Ensure the environment is safe, healthy, reflective of our ethos and supports our client’s aims.

To succeed as the Support Worker, you will have:

  • The ability to provide a flexible and responsive service to people with experience of rough sleeping and homelessness
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with all partners
  • Commitment to supporting people to achieve the best outcomes as they work towards independence
  • Strong organisation skills, with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • The ability to work autonomously as well as part a team
  • Organised and efficient in your work
  • Competent at using a computer and a range of software packages
  • Committed to developing your knowledge and skills
  • Responsive and flexible to the needs of the team and the clients.
