Project Selborne is a Transformational Training programme with a strategic goal of modernising Royal Navy training to deliver “better trained sailors to the front line faster”.

This role is an essential member of the Royal Navy’s Learning and Development Organisation (LDO) at HMS Raleigh, primarily to support of phase 1 trainees. The role is responsible to the LDO Hub Team Leader for the provision and coordination of personnel selection services (PSS) including administration and organisation of PSS support activities to phase 1 trainees during their initial naval training.

The role will work to provide informative and supportive advice and guidance to phase 1 trainees on the future of their service careers as well as ensuring key administrative and organisational tasks are completed with information being shared with Royal Navy colleagues. In addition, the role will also liaise with local and regional LDO leadership and relevant RN staff to actively promote LDO opportunities that meet the needs of current and future trainees.

This is a Term time only role with 2 weeks holiday at Christmas and Easter and 4 weeks in August

What you’ll be doing:

  • Carrying out supportive and insightful personnel selection and early service leaver interviews
  • Providing administration activities and support for the phase 1 staff and LDO services
  • Producing/recording and administering documentation.
  • Supporting SpLD/neurodiversity staff in the identification of learners needing SpLD/ND support.
  • Signposting personnel for further advice and guidance for SpLD and neurodiversity support and resettlement and educational opportunities

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience of working with Phase 1 trainees would be highly advantageous
  • Experience with military recruitment or training would be desirable
  • Coaching/mentoring experience
  • Excellent administration and IT skills
  • Ability to be calm in difficult situations
  • Excellent personal skills

About Project Selborne

Project Selborne is a wide scale, 12 year transformation of Royal Navy Training. The contract worth GBP 1 billion was awarded in December 2020 to a consortium led by Capita to deliver and modernise training for the RN. The consortia of partners known as Team Fisher includes Raytheon UK, Fujitsu and University of Lincoln together with 14 other UK-based suppliers.
