Role: Supplier Performance and Contract Manager


Job Purpose


The Supplier Performance & Contract Manager is responsible for managing large scale contracts and supporting initiatives that deliver value and cost savings from third party suppliers.


They will:

  • Understand, explain, monitor and improve the fulfilment and compliance of contractual obligations
  • Be involved in all phases of the IT contract life-cycle and maintain updated records of contract terms and agreements
  • Identify non-compliances, document and escalate to the Supplier Relationship Manager for that supplier

Key Accountabilities


  • Liaise with key members in Service Delivery to understand and monitor the fulfilment of contractual obligations in accordance with the defined terms and conditions
  • Help to identify strategic IT partners by looking at factors including business criticality, spend, and integral suppliers.
  • Manage long IT Supplier relationships
  • Provide key commercial support for large strategic IT programmes
  • Manage small to medium scale contracts to deliver value and cost savings from third party suppliers
  • Manage contract change requests and maintain all subsequently amended operational IT contracts under management
  • Work with the Head of Strategic Supplier and Contract Management and the Supplier Relationship Managers in the evaluation of Supplier responses and proposals including production of key briefing notes and responding to wider stakeholder requirements
  • Provide ad-hoc commercial support and expertise to an array of business teams
  • Communicate all contract changes to key stakeholders and ensure they understand the implications of these changes
  • Report on the business case realisation of all the contracts under management. Document all benefits realised and slippages against original expectations (Excel reporting / analysis and PowerPoint)
  • Ensure the accuracy of contract terms through regular reviews. Explain and summarise contract terms for key stakeholders
  • Maintain compliance data related to all contracts
  • Proofread contractual documentation to ensure their accuracy
  • Contribute to and manage the RFI/RFP formulation process as well as the development of new contracts
  • Own and maintain a database of standard Supplier terms and conditions
  • Oversee asset (including license) management activity
  • Track and manage all claims and complaints affecting the operational IT contracts and feed updates back to Supplier Relationship Managers
  • Review new work packages against desired commercial terms
  • Deliver additional supplier relationship responsibilities determined by the needs of the team or individual development requirements

Key competencies


  • In-depth knowledge of contract structures and terms
  • Strong ability to analyse, understand and enforce contractual obligations, whilst balancing out the need to maintain and grow a strong interdependent relationship with suppliers
  • Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Proven skills at managing suppliers to ensure all parties comply with their respective obligations
  • Experience in managing large scale contracts and supporting initiatives that deliver value and cost savings from 3rd party suppliers
