About you...

Looking for an experienced, hardworking and passionate Sous Chef to support and guide the kitchen team. The ideal candidate for this position has previous experience preparing fresh food, enjoys working in a busy environment and is capable of directing and mentoring a large team. The position requires the Sous Chef to assist in running the kitchen, contributing to the overall success of the restaurant and banquets, in accordance with the hotel’s standards and financial goals.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the Head chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Designing menus together with the head chef.
• Preparing, cooking and presenting food in accordance with restaurant standards.
• Supervising the work of the kitchen brigade.
• Ensuring dishes are prepared and presented in accordance with recipes.
• Deputising for the head chef where absent.
• Ensuring that all kitchen operations are in compliance with food hygiene (HACCP) and safety regulations.
• Assisting with staff training and development.
• Managing and resolving any issues that may arise quickly and efficiently.
• Contribute to business strategy discussions to ensure the maximum results for the business are achieved.
• Motivate the kitchen team by being confident through your personality, being dynamic and positive at all times, and leading from the front.
• Promote a positive attitude and display the ability to ‘make things happen’ to achieve or exceed anticipated results and encourage the same in the team.

Skills/experience

• Previous experience in similar role essential.
• Food and Hygiene – Level 2.
• Worked within hotel industry.

• Well organised - ability to work under pressure and to deadlines and targets.
• Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team.
• A can-do attitude, team player, spirited & relentless in your objectives.
• It is essential that you can follow instructions whilst using your own initiative to prioritise tasks in fast paced and potentially stressful environment.
