Walsingham Farms Shop is recruiting a part - time retail assistant. Working across our shop floor department.

Our aim is to provide an exceptional customer experience. Delivering quality, locally made, farmed and produced food and drink products. We embrace the theatre of shopping. Being here should be a pleasurable, fun experience whether you are watching our butchery or game pies being made or tasting something from a nearby producer. HOURS AND LENGTH OF CONTRACT

20 - 35 hours per week. To include regular weekend working (Saturday - Sunday). Availability for bank holidays and seasonal school holidays is crucial.

Likely rota patten to be: Monday, Tuesday and Saturday (8:30am - 5pm). Occasional additional shift on a Wednesday or Sunday may be required.

PAY

£10.18 - 10.45/ph increases due in line with performance and years of service.

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

The role of the Food Retail Assistants is to provide a positive and welcoming first and last point of contact for our customers and to offer an excellent customer service both in person and via other methods of communication. The team also supervises online systems including our ecommerce offering, emails and stock and ordering systems. You will be required to work to an operational rota as part of an effective retail team covering the whole of the customer experience at Walsingham Farms Shop.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The following is intended to provide guidance as to duties, but it is not exhaustive.

  • Assist in the day to day running of the shop.
  • To aid where required ordering selected products with suppliers.
  • To assist with covering lunch breaks in other departments of the shop as required.
  • To ensure that you provide the highest standards of customer service to all our customers. This will include looking for ways of exceeding customers’ expectations, anticipating customers’ needs and responding positively in all your communications with customers – in person, over the phone and via emails.
  • To provide a warm and friendly welcome to visitors of all ages and to develop relationships with customers so that they feel welcome and valued, increasing the likelihood of their repeat custom.
  • To reconcile and record transactions, wastage, stock, traceability information and cash daily.
  • To serve on our till/ system/food scale system and handle cash/card transactions where required.
  • To answer all queries received in person and by telephone and email relating to the customer experience at Walsingham Farms Shop.
  • To upsell and encourage sales of products and services we offer throughout the shop.
  • To ensure daily changing product prices are kept up to date and changed where required, including our POS information in line with the business margin and trading standards requirements.
  • To input all relevant information into the computerised database systems – including customer details, new or achieved product details and supplier information and stock allocation. Compliance with the data protection act must be adhered to at all times.
  • To display products and aid the design and preparation of seasonal displays.
  • To assist and contribute with the preparation and execution of resources for seasonal events and off-site activities.
  • To develop and maintain a high level of knowledge and understanding of the products and services we offer to our customers.
  • To replenish stock when needed and to ensure all deliveries are recorded and put away or displayed in a timely manner.
  • To follow the correct opening and closing procedures and food safety and HACCP procedures for the shop floor department reporting any concerns to the Duty Manager.
  • To be responsible for day-to-day maintenance, appearance and cleaning of the shop floor including completing daily check lists as required.
  • To ensure that all customer and back of shop areas are kept clean and tidy at all times. This will include regular checks on levels of cleanliness in the lavatories.
  • To adhere to the Company’s Health and Safety policy at all times.
  • To adhere and maintain the high levels of food safety and cleanliness throughout the shop.
  • If trained to administer First Aid if necessary.

To make a positive contribution to the work of the shop floor team and other departments when required.

TRAINING

You will be required and encouraged to engage in a programme of professional development as required. Some training will require completing online courses at home.
