Job Title: Shift Manufacturing Manager

Location: Birmingham

Shift Pattern: Fri - Monday (Weekends) 39hrs

About the role

As the Shift Manufacturing Manager, you will be accountable for overseeing the operation of the direct workforce including Team Leaders, Production operators and shift Maintenance Engineers. You will lead the shift team driving on time delivery, productivity and quality whilst strictly adhering to HSE standards. You’ll also lead Teams Leader to develop and train production staff in supporting business objectives whilst working with the maintenance team to ensure all plant, equipment and processes are maintained and able to support production targets.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage rotating Production and Maintenance team members including performance management and resource planning in collaboration with site objectives.
  • Ensure HSEQ standards are fully maintained and developed.
  • PTW/LOTO/MOC/Safe engineering management of the chlorine system. Liaise with HSE manager to ensure regulatory compliance and business procedures are being applied at all times.
  • Management of the Effluent Treatment Plant to ensure maintained excellent operational performance.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all production processes with good knowledge of key machinery and whilst working with the shift maintenance technicians to deliver OEE targets.
  • Analyse and report on site engineering, quality and maintenance performance providing direction for future improvements, use KPIs to identify opportunities to exceed targets and implement improvements plans. Accountable for maintaining expected 6S standards across the production facility using PLS tools and safety/gemba walks
  • Collaborate with Production Manager and Manufacturing Engineering Manager to Monitor and deliver team development to achieve a multi skilled workforce to maintain a high levels of operational performance and excellence.

  • Experience of following production plan and ability to make decision to deviate if required
  • Strong written communication and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of CI tools and methods
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong prioritisation skills
  • Skill in supervising to include delegating responsibility, training and evaluating performance
  • Conflict management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide cross-functional leadership
