Job Description
Rochdale Youth Justice Service is currently looking for an experienced youth justice service manager. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the multi-agency Youth Justice Service in accordance with Council policies, procedures, and national service standards.
What will you be doing as a Youth Justice Service Manager:
- You will assist the Head of Service, with the development and delivery of the Youth Justice and YJS Annual Plan in partnership with other agencies
- You will lead on a number of thematic areas within the multi-agency YJS providing specialist knowledge and skills in one or more areas in order to prevent offending by young people
- Prevent offending and re-offending by children and young people through the provision of effective services as required by the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008, Legal Aid, Sentencing & Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (LASPO) and related legislation and guidance
- You will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the multi-agency Youth Offending Service in accordance with Council policies, procedures, and national service standards
- You will deputise for the Head of Service and represent the service at external meetings as and when required
- You will attend meetings of the Youth Justice Service Management Board, the Local safeguarding board, the community safety partnership and present on areas of work as and when required
Essential requirements of this Youth Justice Service Manager role:
- A degree level and/ or professional qualification in a relevant discipline Social Work, Education, Probation, Police, and evidence of continuing professional development
- And/ or a recognised professional qualification relating to criminal justice/ youth offending service/ community safety and evidence of professional development where no degree is held
- At least 4 years post qualification experience of working within a Youth Justice Service setting
- At least 2 years post qualification management experience within a Youth Justice Service setting
- A thorough working knowledge of the legislation governing the work of the Youth Offending Service, including the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, the Criminal Justice Act 1991, the Children's Act 1989, and the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008
- The legal right to work in the UK
