We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer (Integration) within DTS Solution Design and Engineering team. You will be responsible for all Integration development activities required to support the delivery and governance o Integration components across various business units with a specialist focus on APIs.
We are currently performing several cloud migration and application modernisation programmes across the estate to modernise our estate. This includes migration of 7 million customers to a brand-new cloud energy platform to support NetZero. We are creating solutions that supports the dynamic nature of energy usage, as we use more EV, Heat pumps and Battery Storage. It’s a very exciting time to join Centrica!
The Integration team is responsible for the design, build, delivery and governance of multiple Integration platforms and application stacks across AWS, Azure including Serverless, Event-Driven, as well as Microservices architectures.
Day-to-day accountabilities
Design and develop enterprise grade multi-tiered and distributed software applications and services out of microservices
Develops quality and performing software and APIs that works
Completes development work within time, budget and standards
Contributing in the development of integration assets, frameworks and patterns to ensure continual evolution
Lead solutions development team and forecast resource capacity and planning
Efficiently utilise DevOps tools and practices to build and deploy software
Contributing in the delivery of on-going efficiencies and improvements across the development & support function
What we need from you
High proficiency in programming languages - either Javascript and/or Python.
JavaScript frameworks such as Node.js.
API modelling and API Proxy Development on API Management platforms similar to Azure APIM, AWS API Gateway, Apigee, SAP APIM, Kong or Zuul
Cloud Platform experience - AWS, Azure or GCP
Integration using REST as well as SOAP web services.
Solid experience building Serverless applications on AWS.
A working knowledge of Linux and any scripting language
Practical experience writing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible or similar tools
CI/CD experience using AWS CodePipeline, Azure Devops or similar tools
Proven architecture and design skills with responsibility to deliver complex full stack solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good knowledge and experience with Agile methodologies and practices
Good problem solving skills
Strong interest in working in a polyglot environment with hands on experience in multiple programming languages and frameworks including Java, JavaScript, Node.js, React.js and Go would be desirable.
Education: Degree in Computers /IT or relevant work experience
