Job Description


We're looking for a Senior Civil Engineer with experience in the technical delivery and management of water engineering projects or related areas. We are looking for talented individuals with a background in water engineering or related and transferable sectors, such as; Utilities, Oil & Gas or Transportation sectors.

We recognise a variety of experience and backgrounds may suit this role and that experience levels in specific technical areas may vary. If you feel you only meet some of the requirements mentioned and have transferrable skills, we would still love to hear from you and in many cases can provide additional support for an effective transition into water engineering.

Some of the high–profile projects you can expect to be involved with are:

  • Thames Water – AECOM has positions across all scales of delivery including major projects such as Mogden STW upgrade, Thames Tideway Tunnel, Deephams STW upgrade and ‘Capital Delivery’ infra and non-infra schemes across the Thames region.
  • Wessex Water – AECOM has been appointed on several AMP7 frameworks, including the Capital Delivery framework.
  • Severn Trent Water – AECOM has been appointed on major schemes Lot 1 of Severn Trent Water’s new Design Services Framework for AMP7. Our portfolio of projects is building rapidly.

Key areas of accountability:

  • Lead dynamic design engineering projects, orchestrating multidisciplinary teams and interfacing with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project managers and lead design engineers to provide technical decisions at key design stages for some of our largest and most complex water and wastewater utility projects.
  • Provide the technical input into proposals, feasibility studies, reference designs, detailed designs, and preparing reports and technical specifications.
  • Leverage your design know-how and superior communication skills to guide and manage our design staff.
  • Be an integral part of our regional water engineering team, collaborating with everyone from graduates to seasoned industry experts in delivering designs for water company AMP8 and beyond.
  • Join our global technical practice network and grow with a community of like-minded engineers.
  • Enhance our regional water engineering team with your unique strengths and passions.

Qualifications


We are looking for you to;

  • Be an experienced engineer or senior engineer in civil engineering within the Water, Utilities, Oil & Gas, or Transportation industries.
  • Have demonstrable experience in multi-disciplinary engineering design
  • Proactively in propose new approaches or ways of working to continuously improve
  • Possess robust communication and interpersonal abilities, along with a knack for persuasion, fostering effective collaboration with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Deliver continuous professional development and take an active approach to drive development of more junior coworkers
  • Be a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or be actively working towards this status

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Be a degree qualified professional, with a BSc, BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent
