This is an exciting opportunity for an orthoptist to develop a career in clinical research. The post-holder will work closely with our Associate Professor of Paediatric Ophthalmology (Jay Self) to develop and implement clinical research within the department. We are looking for a band 7 research lead but would be prepared to appoint initially at band 6 for a suitable orthoptist interested in developing into a research role.
We are a team of 13 orthoptists providing a full range of orthoptic services including tertiary clinics for ocular motility, nystagmus and infantile cataracts; stroke clinics; and intra-vitreal injections for age related macular degeneration.
University Hospitals Southampton has a strong research profile, with one of the 19 National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Facilities (NIHR CRF) based here. We run the majority of paediatric ophthalmology clinical trials on the south coast, including commercial and portfolio studies.
