Job Summary
Join the team at learning disability charity Brandon Trust\'s Social Enterprise Fired Up in Yate, South Gloucestershire; we have an exciting opportunity for a project leader to support our Project Co-ordinator in the development of the project and assist with the production work.
Fired up is a purpose-built employment training unit, the pottery supports up to 30 people with learning disability, autism or both every week; enabling them to develop their skills and experience. We’ve a range of products that we design and develop to sell from the studio and attend a variety of art & craft events. In addition, we have 2 thriving Hobby Classes running each week open to the public and provide painting parties, workshops and offer a kiln firing service.
Brandon exists to enable children, young people and adults with a learning disability, autism or both, to live life in the way they choose. We provide high-quality, individualised support to around 1,600 people and have a staff team of over 2,000.
You’ll provide leadership and supervision to a small team including supported employees while working alongside them carrying out the activities within the Studio. You’ll support the production work including the correct use of clay, glazes, and other ceramic materials consistently and to agreed levels.
Working alongside the Project Coordinator you’ll develop and create new designs and products. You’ll develop and implement marketing activities and opportunities to increase sales, promote the studio and the services we offer, this may be at weekends and evenings.
You\'ll create a safe and enjoyable environment to enable our supported employees to achieve their desired outcomes. You\'ll also develop links with the local community to identify opportunities for joint working.
Approachable, cheerful and calm, you’ll have enthusiasm with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. Patient, with excellent customer service skills you’re able to work under pressure and have knowledge and experience of Art & Ceramics.
You’ll have a Level 2 in Ceramic/Art qualification (or equivalent or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills, knowledge and experience) and level 2 Maths and English qualifications (or able to demonstrate this capacity through assessment).
Respectful of people’s differences, you can build professional relationships and have a flexible approach. You’ll have experience in a small business or social enterprise, of managing staff, and ideally of working with people with a learning disability, autism or both.
A full driving licence and use of your own car is essential for this role.
