Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable and organised person to join our Community Connecting team, focussing on independent travel training with young people with disabilities, supporting independence to access their school, college, or alternative provision.
LIVE WORK CARE
About the role
The wider team focus on assisting young people and adults with disabilities to find out more about their local community and how they can access some of the following; voluntary work, socialising, meeting friends or joining a club, further education, including college courses and other training opportunities, using their community facilities to do things that they enjoy and travel training.
We also work with local specialist schools, facilitating Get Connected, which supports road awareness and safety. This supports the pathway to employment.
Your role will focus on bespoke, sustainable travel training to and from a young persons place of education. This will involve working with young people with disabilities, parents and support networks, liaising with schools, colleges, Wiltshire Council’s passenger transport team, SEND transport team and other professionals to ensure a seamless support is provided.
About you
The role is an active one, walking, using public transport and navigating challenging routes so the successful candidate will be pro-active and positive in nature and have experience working with a wide range of people. Good communication is key. You will have experience of supporting and working with young people who have additional needs.
We work in a flexible way, and you will be required to work before and after school/college hours as travel training will be conducted in real time. If you enjoy seeing young people thrive in their independence, then this may be the job for you!
Interviews will be held on 6th June 2023.
Interviews can be held both virtually on Microsoft Teams and in person, if your interview is virtual, candidates will be sent a link before the interview to download the Teams App. All current public health advice is followed for candidate and employee safety.
