The API & Excipients team is responsible for managing GSK’s external supply chains delivering a range of APIs, intermediates, registered starting materials and excipients through our commercial supply external manufacturing network.
The Senior Manager role is responsible for securing value from the supply chain through category strategy, contracting, delivery of continuous improvement, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), cost savings and successful changes to the external network ensuring supply of product to patients while maintaining high quality standards. The key focus on driving Business priorities, including Sustainability targets to facilitate delivery of 2030 & 2045 Ambition on Climate and Nature.
You will cooperate with cross functional team (Quality, Technical, Supply, R&D, Finance) including senior leaders in GSK and suppliers to deploy strategies globally/regionally.
This role is critical to underpin the success of GSK and requires strong forward-looking strategic thinking.
Lead the development, management and implementation of comprehensive strategies in alignment with GSK and Procurement to deliver agreed savings targets and other benefits that significantly impact GSK financial results.
Develop supply strategies that not only deliver year on year savings but also key business requirements across assurance of supply, quality, regulatory, service and innovation.
Drive the category agenda on relevant supply chain /franchise forums
Protect GSK revenue streams by managing supply security through robust risk management process and ensure regulatory compliance.
Be responsible for major supply base issue resolution e.g. recalls, sudden cessation of supply.
Establish and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders on local, regional and global levels.
Build strategic relationships with key suppliers at a senior level and lead processes to ensure value is driven from these relationships. Ensure global and regional considerations are accounted for in supplier relationships. Leverage the Business Review Meeting process to drive the relationship.
Negotiate, create, execute and manage effective global and regional contracts with suppliers. Ensure regional considerations are taken into account in global supplier negotiations and contracts.
Be responsible for supply of a global category and lead global and regional strategy and supply base reviews.
Experience in direct procurement (pharmaceutical/CDMO sectors are preferred)
Experience in new product introduction (nice to have)
Ability to manage mature product portfolio across GSK therapeutic areas
Ability to operate independently, influencing senior management across multiple countries
Proven negotiations and contract management skills - ability to lead high level negotiations for long term and/or multi-countries contracts.
Experience delivering quality, compliant, timely, well-specified agreements to generate a clear return on investment for GSK.
Market knowledge of supplier capabilities (current and future) required to acquire and maintain competitive advantage
University/Master’s degree
English proficiency (written and spoken)
Demonstrated business acumen & knowledge of the API space, excipients or raw materials (nice to have)
Clear understanding business value, business priorities, and potential implementation risks
Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder engagement agility
Good communications and presentation skills
Strong understanding of commercials drivers, objectives, and challenges
Procurement experience with CDMO network (nice to have)
Crisis Management and Business Continuity Planning
Good problem-solving skills to address issues/blockage, beware of risks, support implementation and robustly forecast spend and savings
