Role Overview

The BGUK Privacy Team is recruiting a Privacy Risk and Governance Lead to take responsibility for maintaining and enhancing BGUK's Privacy Oversight Control Framework which forms a crucial part of how BGUK identifies and manages privacy risk and ensures compliance with privacy obligations. The work will involve working with teams across Bupa including Group Privacy, Risk and Compliance and Internal Audit to establish appropriate, consistent and efficient oversight of privacy risk.

What You’ll Do:

• Work with Privacy and other business colleagues to ensures privacy risks (including compliance issues) are identified, assessed, managed and reported
• Leading the development and monitoring of the Bupa Privacy Oversight Control Framework and approach to privacy risk management.
• Developing a control testing plan and supporting templates, driving efficient execution and timely completion and tracking control findings though to resolution.
• Recommending improvements, modifications, and new procedures to mitigate risk and to address inadequate or weak controls.
• Ensuring significant or potentially significant risks and compliance weaknesses are escalated, including to the Privacy Director
• Documenting, maintaining and enhancing privacy processes owned by the BGUK Privacy Team that form part of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
• Reviewing business owned process within the IMS to identify those that support the management of privacy risk (such as local Identification and Verification processes) and to then incorporate control findings into privacy risk assessments.

What You’ll Bring:

• A proven track record as a Governance, Risk and Compliance expert, ideally with significant exposure to privacy and data protection risks.
• Professional, pragmatic and flexible with good judgement
• Confident engaging with, and challenging where appropriate, senior stakeholders and leaders to ensure privacy risks are appropriately managed
• A self-starter with the persistence to deliver results.
• A willingness to challenge the status quo to deliver improvements.
• An ability to promote and implement new ways of working
