Salary: £25,389.00 Per Annum + Desirable Benefits

Full time Permanent position – Working 45 Hours a Week

We currently have a fantastic opportunity to recruit a Ranger, who will run guided daily safaris using game viewing Land Rovers, deliver educational talks to school groups, visitors and guests, facilitate animal encounters and host guest at our various accommodation.

The successful candidate will also work alongside Keepers across all our animal sections as and when needed, along with taking bookings for safari’s and handling enquiries from other departments within the Park. Please note that this position involves working at both Port Lympne Reserve and Howletts Wild Animal Park.

Who we are looking for:

You will need outstanding customer service skills and understand the importance of putting the guests needs first. You must have excellent knowledge of conservation issues and endangered species worldwide to act as a tour guide as well as excellent hosting skills to provide our guests with a truly unforgettable experience.

The ideal candidate will be FGASA qualified, hold a conservation related degree or have exceptional experience in guiding guests in the outdoors. You must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and be comfortable presenting to groups of people. You will also need to be computer literate with good written and excellent verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to maintain accurate records and have exceptional attention to detail.

A valid UK driving licence is essential and you we need a reliable form of transport to travel between the parks.

The location:

Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve is a world-renowned wild animal park set within 600 acres of Kentish savannah. The Reserve is home to some of the world’s most rare and endangered animals and offers luxury short breaks accommodation, free roaming animal safaris, once-in-a-lifetime animal encounters and exquisite dining experiences. Our sister park, Howletts Wild Animal Park is located near Canterbury and set within 90 acres of land. Howletts is home to over 300 rare and endangered species, including Kents only giant anteaters, the largest herd of African elephants in the UK, and more gorillas, leopards and monkeys than any zoo in the county!

Most importantly, every one of our employees is part of real conservation in action and their efforts have contributed to animals such as black rhino and western lowland gorillas being returned to their natural habitats in collaboration with our partners at The Aspinall Foundation.

Contract details:

Working hours are 45 hours per week covering shifts over five days a week, shift times may vary with either early start or late finish. This can include weekends and Bank Holidays.

All applicants must have right to work in the UK. A reliable mode of transport is recommended due to our remote location.
