Acorns Children's Hospice Trust are now looking for a Clinical Support Worker for Outreach to deliver holistic care to children and young people who are life limited/ life threatened in their homes or other appropriate care premises.
About the Role
Established in 1988, Acorns Children's Hospice Trust is a registered charity, based in Birmingham. We care for babies, children and young people up to 18 years and support their families. Our teams provide care services for the life limited or life threatened children across our region who meet our referral criteria. A majority of the children and young people that we help are not expected to reach adulthood and require specialist care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
As a Clinical Support Worker, you’ll deliver day to day care to meet the clinical needs of our children and young people, either in their home or other care premises, reporting and recording any changes in need. We have a competency framework in place to support your learning to ensure that you have the right skills.
You’ll plan and facilitate play and activities that are appropriate to age and developmental needs and provide parents and carers with an emotional base of support when caring for their child in their home. You’ll be involved in helping families make memories if their child is recognised to be at the end of their life.
You’ll work both independently and alongside other workers from the Acorns team, such as our nurses.
About You
You will have previous experience in general childcare, hospital or physical care of children or young people and ideally experience with children with additional needs. Knowledge of safeguarding is essential.
We’re open every day of the year and are fully responsive to the needs of our children and young people, so we will ask for some flexibility as there will be day and weekend shifts. As this is an outreach role, you must have the ability to travel independently across the West Midlands.
What We Offer
You need to be eligible to work in the UK to be considered for this role. We are committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and therefore any successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check for children and will be asked to provide two satisfactory references.
As a UNICEF Silver Rights Respecting organisation we are committed to ensuring that the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child is embedded into both culture and practice within the organisation. As an employee you will be a Duty Bearer for Children’s Rights and support all children to be Rights Holders.
