Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Band 6 Specialist Nurse in Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) and Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), to cover maternity leave. These are a group of complex respiratory diseases, characterised by scarring and inflammation of the lungs. You will work within a multidisciplinary team including consultants, radiologists, pharmacists, admin team and community respiratory teams.
Main duties of the job
The role requires you to support patients from diagnosis, through treatment to the palliative phase, advising with palliative care services to ensure continuity of care.
The role will enable you to transfer, apply and develop your nursing knowledge and skills to ensure the quality of care for this group of respiratory patients.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills who has a passion for respiratory medicine and wants to learn more about ILD and LAM.
Working for our organisation
Nottingham is the hub for Interstitial Lung Disease so we care for patients across the East Midlands including Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Staffordshire. You will be based at Nottingham City Hospital and will be responsible for symptom management and managing the counselling and monitoring of specialist drugs for patients in the respective areas.
As a specialist nurse you will review patients within both in-patient and out-patient settings. To provide advice, perform investigations and monitor treatment, assess for oxygen therapy, provide information regarding community support and pulmonary rehabilitation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be based at Nottingham City Hospital.
The successful applicant will be required to provide a specialist nursing service and education for patients with ILD and LAM, as well as their carers about the condition, appropriate treatments and their administrations.
Liaison with all healthcare professionals who deliver care is an imperative part of the role along with the maintenance of accurate records, involvement in audit, clinical research and participation in multi-disciplinary teaching.
