Part Time (22.5 hours) Band 7 Advanced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in Acute Stroke
Fixed term for 11 months

Due to maternity leave, we are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and well-motivated Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our established and supportive Acute Sector Adult Team based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, for a fixed term period of 11 months.
This part-time role involves responsibility for working as part of the acute stroke multi-disciplinary team at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, covering the North-East of Scotland. You will be working within a very supportive MDT with excellent opportunities for collaborative working, quality improvement initiatives and training opportunities.
As a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will demonstrate significant depth and breadth of clinical knowledge, specialist skills and experience of working with adults in an acute care setting. You will work alongside the lead Speech and Language Therapist in acute stroke and support band 6 and band 3 staff within the Speech and Language Therapy team. We work closely with our SLT colleagues in stroke rehabilitation services and community SLT services to support patient transition out of hospital.
Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is a large teaching hospital. You will be part of the Speech and Language Therapy service which covers a wide range of acute hospital patient care, including neurosciences, ENT, head and neck cancer, and acute and critical care. Shared values to promote optimal patient rehabilitation and recovery, an active contribution to collaborative working and to service development initiatives is important to the team. There will be opportunities to be involved in weekly videofluoroscopy clinics and we are currently developing our in-patient FEES service.

Within our small, supportive team there are established pathways for peer support, mentoring and supervision, and a commitment to providing CPD opportunities.

In order to provide cover across the week, we are looking for someone who can work these hours over at least three days, to include a Thursday and a Friday.
