Job Description

We are looking for ambitious and enthusiastic Band 7 Neonatal Nurses to join our friendly, dynamic, innovative and award winning team at Singleton level 3 NICU. Singleton NICU provides a full range of neonatal critical care services for South West Wales catering to a birth population of approximately 10,000 per year.

This is an exciting time to join our neonatal team with the recently opened new Transitional Care and Special Care unit, freeing up space for further expansion of critical care capacity. The newly refurbished unit has excellent facilities and has one of the best family accommodations in Wales. We nurture a very pleasant working environment and passionate about providing the highest standard of care. The unit has excellent benchmarked outcomes and is recognised for high quality innovative practices on antibiotic stewardship, family integrated care, neurodevelopmental follow up programme and predictive heart rate monitoring. In addition, the unit has recently been awarded reaccreditation for BFI status.

Due to developments within the Neonatal Service, we are seeking an individual with excellent managerial, leadership and staff organizational skills. We are looking for an individual who is able to motivate and develop a team with the ability to delegate and prioritize workload. We are seeking a highly motivated neonatal ward manager with the drive and commitment to developing neonatal services at the Singleton Hospital, Swansea. You must have exceptional communication and managerial skills.

To demonstrate a professional approach to work and act in accordance with the Swansea Bay Health Board personal responsibilities framework and the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • To ensure the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources.
  • To act as a role model and expert practitioner.
  • To recruit and retain a skilled nursing workforce.
  • To facilitate the development of all staff members within the team.
  • To provide an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence based practice.
  • To undertake delegated responsibility for the unit in the absence of the Matron.
