As part of our commitments to our customers and stakeholders, the Markets business at Citi continues to enhance its Risk and Control function via collaboration with our revenue businesses to develop, implement and operate robust Front Office controls.

E-Trading Risk and Controls (ETRC) is a global team that is part of the Markets CAO function. ETRC sits within the Front Office / First Line of Defense and works closely with each E-Trading Business across Markets, as well as the Second Line risk and Compliance functions. The team is now recruiting in the EMEA region and the role will primarily focus on performing Real-Time Monitoring.

Key responsibilities of the ETRC team include:

  • Real-time monitoring of Citi’s algorithmic trading activities for signs of disorderly trading.

  • Governance and oversight of E-Trading businesses across Markets, which includes annual attestation/review of key E-Trading documentation and regulatory certifications (e.g., MiFiD II).

  • Project management of key cross-Markets E-Trading initiatives.

  • Co-ordination of Manager Control Assessment and review of Operational Risk Events.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Perform Real-Time Monitoring (RTM) for the EMEA region, which involves monitoring and investigating relevant alerts that could indicate signs of disorderly trading. Escalate alerts to management and Second Line where necessary.

  • Assist the EMEA RTM lead with the development of new alerts that could identify signs of disorderly trading. Work with global RTM leads on cross-regional projects.

  • Assist the EMEA RTM lead with the development of the strategic RTM tool, which includes documenting requirements and regular engagement with the development team and RTM teams in other regions.

  • Assist with the maintenance of the EMEA RTM procedure, ensuring it is regularly reviewed and updated, and consistent with global standards.

  • Contribute toward the periodic review of the scope of applications/strategies for RTM, taking into account new applications/strategies.

  • Maintain and develop RTM metrics and KPI’s that will be presented at governance forums.

  • Assist with the oversight and project management of key E-Trading initiatives and remediation of ETRC enhancement projects for the EMEA region as required.

  • Develop and manage key relationships with the EMEA E-Trading Businesses, Technology, Risk and Compliance functions.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

  • Strong relevant E-Trading experience preferably in a trading or controls related role (Trader/Desk Assistant, Trade Surveillance, Production Support, Middle Office, )

  • Tenacious hands-on problem-solving skills

  • Product knowledge in at least one of the following asset classes is preferable - Equities, Rates, FX, Commodities

  • Knowledge of Standard Development Lifecycle and E-Trading applications preferred

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders

  • Knowledge of E-Trading regulation and guidance

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance short-term and medium-term remedial action.
