Mechanical Engineer

The Company:

The company is at the forefront of Hyperbaric Rescue, along with being the leading supplier of commercial and defence diving equipment and saturation diving systems to the commercial industry.

The Role:
To provide through life engineering support and engineering solutions to the JFD defence diving equipment product range. Workload can vary from new product design to meet client or internal specifications through to supporting an existing client’s request to upgrade or change equipment in the field.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide sustaining engineering support to the existing product range.
  • Provide technical engineering design input to new products
  • Assess technical queries and provide engineering solutions to a wide-ranging products portfolio.
  • Liaise with internal JFD departments such as sales, procurement and production to ensure the best technical solution is provided in all instances.
  • Sourcing suitable components and materials when required.
  • Creation of part numbers and bill of materials.
  • Creation of engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification and reports.
  • Checking detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation.
  • Ensuring engineering solutions are provided on time and on budget.
  • Adherence to engineering and company standards and processes.
  • Site visits to other JFD offices and client assets as and when required.
  • Accountability and responsibility as technical checker of drawings and documentation generated in support of the mechanical engineer role.
  • Compliance to internal and external standards & regulations.

The Person:
Excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to work as part of a team but also in isolation when required along with excellent organizational skills & excellent attention to detail.
Methodical and thorough whilst generating and checking documentation with the ability to adapt to changing scope or client demands.
Willingness to take ownership and accountability of tasks and drive to completion.
Focused on delivering high quality output to tight deadlines and willing to go the extra mile to ensure success is achieved.
Focused on delivering cost efficient solutions on time and on budget.

Experience & Qualifications:
Proven mechanical lead engineering skills and skilled in generating design calculations.
Good knowledge of manufacturing techniques with a good knowledge of gas and fluid systems along with knowledge of design standards.
Knowledge of industry guidelines such as IMCA / DEFSTAN and previous sustaining engineering would be advantageous.
Previous experience in a Mechanical Engineer role would be beneficial along with experience with PLM system for generating and storage of engineering packages.
Previous diving equipment engineering experience would be advantageous or general experience/familiarity of diving and the techniques required.

Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
Any relevant diving qualifications would be advantageous.
Security clearance shall be required for the role, you will need to of lived and have the right to work in the UK for 5 years or more.
