Post Ref: CC576
Our vision for Calderdale in 2024 is for a place where you can realise your potential whoever you are, whether your voice has been heard or unheard in the past. We aspire to be a place where talent and enterprise can thrive. A place defined by our innate kindness and resilience, by how our people care for each other, are able to recover from setbacks and are full of hope. Calderdale will stand out, be known, and be distinctive. A great place to visit, work, but most importantly, a place to live a larger life.
The Chief Executive is looking to recruit a passionate and committed intern to undertake research, respond to the fast changing external world and develop policy and thinking that supports our aim to be known as a leading innovator in public services in the region. The next 18 months will be particularly exciting, offering the opportunity to support work on the refresh of our long term vision for Calderdale as well as the 2024 Calderdale Year of Culture. The successful candidate will also work with the Chief Executive and senior team on our response to the recent Corporate Peer Challenge of the Council and the development and alignment of our strategic priorities.
This is a stimulating and rewarding opportunity for an individual who is interested in Local Government and wishes to learn more about how to make a difference in an ambitious Council. In this role you will brief the Chief Executive and council members on key details around legislation, emerging practice and leading innovation across the world. Through shadowing the Chief Executive at key events, and working closing with officers from across the council you will develop a vital insight in the function of the Local Authority and how the Council impacts upon those who live and work within Calderdale.
Applications will be considered from those who hold or are currently studying towards a graduate degree in a relevant area, who can demonstrate an ability to communicate to a range of stakeholders and have recent experience of undertaking research and delivering projects.
