The role

You’ll work alongside our internal communications manager on a range of internal projects, campaigns, events and activities. You’ll be joining the People team at an exciting time, as Opencast progresses with ambitious growth plans, including expanding our office footprint across the UK as part of our hybrid working model.

Essential experience

  • working in a communications role, with a good understanding of using a range of channels and methods to share key messages in a creative and engaging way
  • building positive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • contributing to the planning and delivery of in-person and online events
  • collaborating with teams and individuals across an organisation on a variety of projects, and balancing the needs and priorities of those pieces of work
  • delivering news and updates in a variety of formats, such as newsletters, in-person events and webinars
  • managing and updating web or intranet content
  • helping to build and maintain a positive, inclusive community in the workplace

You'll need a good understanding of:

  • creating content for a variety of channels and audiences
  • how to put people at the heart of messaging
  • the varying needs and motivations of your colleagues, depending on their role, location and other factors
  • what it means to be inclusive with communication and employee engagement

Other essential skills

  • writing to a very high standard
  • experience using Microsoft 365, particularly Teams
  • working to deadlines
  • balancing multiple activities and priorities
  • building and developing good relationships
  • being organised and calm under pressure
  • being a good team player who is also a self-motivator
