Integrated Risk Lead


We’re looking for an Integrated Risk Lead to join our Integrated Risk Team at EDF Nuclear Generation Ltd working remotely with some travel to our Gloucester Office and around the EDF fleet.


You’ll be responsible for driving application of the Integrated Risk Management process and standards across the Nuclear Generation Ltd Business both for Nuclear Operations and Nuclear Decommissioning. Providing support to these Business Units to enable effective risk management and promote best practices, including helping develop systems, tools and processes to achieve this as required.

Pay, benefits and culture


We can offer a competitive salary from £54,391- £84,892 dependent on experience and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Nuclear Generation Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position, however we will be happy to discuss options regarding part time flexibility and job share if you would like to highlight this on your application.

What you’ll be doing


As an Integrated Risk Lead you’ll provide ongoing support across the Business Units to implement the integrated Risk Management policy, governance framework and supporting processes.


In order to successfully carry out the above you will:


  • Drive, influence and effectively communicate integrated risk management standards and processes across the Company and at all levels
  • Continuously look to develop the Nuclear Generation Ltd risk community, encouraging sharing of best practice and capturing operational experience
  • Monitor and robustly assess significant business risks; ensuring robust and timely communication and escalation of risks, including the potential aggregated impact and connection of risks across the business.
  • Communicate significant changes and interface mapping to provide visibility of risks from local level right to company level (the ‘Golden Thread’). The objective is to provide the business with an aligned view of its principal risks and their material significance and therefore enable the business to optimise its response to mitigate and control risk.
  • Facilitate and co-ordinate assessment of risk, driving through conclusions and validation of the assessments; reviewing and challenging strategies and assumptions and where relevant the cumulative effects, challenging the uncertainties of risk over time, considering the ‘so what’ and ‘what if’ to allow prioritisation and decision making, and ratifying information and insights for onward communication to key stakeholders.


Who you are


Ideally, you’ll be an experienced risk management practitioner with practical experience of implementing effective enterprise risk management processes within large organisations operating in safety and or commercial environment, and also have a minimum of an HNC qualification in Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths.

Ability to assimilate and consolidate information from multiple sources to understand and communicate complex issues in simple ways, including for non-technical audiences. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience of influencing senior stakeholders.


You’ll be proficient in analysis and interpretation of technical, financial, operational and performance data to gain insights which help inform strategic decisions to optimise risk management. As a result of your analysis you’ll make recommendations that add value or reduce risk through a focus on outcomes.


Strong organisational skills, including the ability to plan, monitor and progress across multiple projects concurrently.


Experience of building stakeholder relations and working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders is an important part of the skillset required to be successful in the role.
