Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement whether that’s job share, part time or another flexible pattern. In addition, although the role advertised may have a ‘home’ office base indicated, we remain committed to supporting flexibility around workplace locations. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.

The successful applicant will be an NHS employee and may therefore have contact with vulnerable service users. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been necessary to take significant steps to protect the health and safety of our staff, service users and those attending our sites. Unless exempt, we encourage and support staff to be vaccinated as this remains the best line of defence against COVID-19.

Job overview

Successful candidates will be invited to an Assessment Day on Friday 19th May 2023 held at Carew House in Bodmin. Please note this will be either a morning or afternoon session to be confirmed.

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of an outstanding service (as rated by the CQC). You will be responsible for providing quality interventions and support to our patients; this will take the place of 1:1 and groups aimed at supporting and empowering people through their rehabilitation. This will range from supporting with personal care tasks to moving on from hospital and accessing community facilities and much more in between. You must be able to communicate in a sensitive manner. You will be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary Rehabilitation Team.

Fettle House has a strong multidisciplinary team including healthcare assistants, nurses, occupational therapists, social inclusion workers, clinical psychology, and psychiatry. Our focus however is on the service user and they are at the heart of the team. We have daily ward planning meetings for service users and are working with carers/relatives to find the best way for their input to be heard. We are a stand-alone unit within a bigger hospital site; our location within site ensures that it does not feel like we are part of a big hospital.

This is a full-time post 37.5 p/w working shifts across the 24 hour clock including weekends and nights.

Main duties of the job

To Support the delivery of care needs by carrying out assigned tasks involving direct care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
To contribute to the evaluation of programmes of care by reporting to the clinical supervisor.

As part of a team, provide high quality mental health care to the service users to promote recovery. To do all the above in a manner that maintains safety for all. To assist in service and good practice developments.

Working for our organisation

We’re an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
