We encourage our customers to care as much about where their Chef comes from as they do their steak.
In May 2021 we launched our HAPPY HOSPITALITY policy to increase team wellbeing, improve job retention and assist with new recruitment.
We put all our existing chefs onto 4 day weeks for the same pay as their previous 5 and recruited in the same way.
We hired 10 chefs across our sites in 10 weeks and we haven’t looked back.
Respect for time off and proper life balance cannot be underestimated.
Hospitality workers and particularly chefs have been overworked and underpaid for too long, hence a massive industry wide shortage post Lockdown - a first real ‘life break’ for many of them meant Chefs didn’t want to go back to those historic working conditions; hence the critical shortage that followed reopen. We recognised that It wasn’t just about being paid more, but also time off for family, hobbies, actual life too.
