Join EDF as a Project Manager in a finance/commercial role which puts you at the heart of the Business Unit’s Finance & Commercial functions, supporting the transition to the new Retail Business billing platform. This is a chance to shape the future of OpEx reporting and the future of business partnering.
It’s a very exciting time to join one of the nation’s leading energy suppliers, in an Industry that is undergoing rapid change to adapt to the global energy crisis. The Customers business supplies gas and electricity to residential and business customers across the UK and provides wholesale market optimisation of EDF Energy’s generation and customer assets. The UK market for gas and electricity is widely considered to be the most competitive of EU energy markets. It is also a market subject to intense political, regulatory and media scrutiny and attention.
The opportunity…
You will be responsible for project reporting, including owning, updating, and tracking of business case, ensuring assumptions are kept up to date and effective delivery of identified benefits. Supporting the Customers Exec in making transparent the decisions, balancing cost requirements against benefit delivery. Creation and delivery of all reporting on contractual arrangements and forecast expectations of costs based on latest assumptions. Contract cost modelling review assumptions, regret spend and phasing impact to aid clear decision making.
Creating and delivering a plan to support the smooth transition of OpEx reporting and business partnering to a new way of working under the new retail billing platform. The overall objective is to create a best practice, self-managing culture where a combination of preventative input controls through improved use of existing/new systems and processes and better education for budget holders creates a low accrual/no-intervention record to report process.
You will be responsible for updating the Investment Case and providing the Executive Team updates where required. This will include updates required as we progress through migration to the new billing system and as part of the medium-term plan. You’ll also be required to create a process for tracking and reporting progress for both internal and external stakeholders. This includes responsibility for measuring and presenting the cost savings as a result of efficiencies generated by the new billing system.
What we’re looking for…
Ideally have an accounting qualification (fully qualified with the ACA/CIMA/ACCA) or have considerable relevant experience, with a strong project management background.
You will be a logical thinker with strong data and analytical skills, having worked with Finance systems previously. You will be confidence in working with imperfect systems and data and able to pick up new systems quickly. Adept at understanding processes and systems quickly and identifying risks and controls, as well as making recommendations for how things should be done.
You will have the ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, whilst being diligence and resilience to work through issues. Able to work on own initiative, and collaboratively to identify problems and solve them. Possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills.
