Overview:
1625 Outreach in Sheffield is a new and exciting drug and alcohol service! It is an innovative and forward-thinking project, with a proven track record of effectively engaging young people and young adults.
Our ethos is centred around the principles of harm reduction, providing a non-judgemental, fact-based information and advice surrounding drug and alcohol use. We aim to give young people the knowledge and skills to make informed choices, to keep themselves and their peers aware and safe when it comes to drugs/alcohol.
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our brand new service as an
Education Lead. You will lead on 1625 Outreach’s work across the education sector of Sheffield, coordinating & facilitating interactive workshops with young people and young adults within school, college, university, and alternative education settings. You will work closely with the services dedicated outreach leads and community connector, supporting community-based outreach across Sheffield. You will need to expect the unexpected, don’t worry though, you will experience a lot of fun and enjoyment in this role
Responsibilities:
About the role:
- Building and maintaining positive working relationships with key educational partners/stakeholders
- Engaging with young people and young adults in a way that is meaningful & impactful in a short space of time
- Facilitating a range of interactive evidence-based workshops to students, to a high standard of delivery
- Work closely with service volunteers/student placements, to ensure a positive a rewarding experience, including supporting with supervision and training & development work
- Commit to safeguarding young people & young adults, adhering to local policies, and facilitating onward referrals to partner agencies where required/appropriate
- Work flexibly & holistically to meet the needs of young people, young adults, and the service collectively
About you:
- Considerable knowledge & experience of working with young people and/or young adults
- Experience of working within an educational setting with working knowledge EDI & SEND
- Knowledge of local support services & referral pathways for young people & young adults, e.g., drugs & alcohol, sexual health, mental health etc
- Working knowledge of effects, risks, and harm reduction in relation to substances relevant to age range
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to present complex messages effectively to a range of stakeholders
- Confident, energetic & highly driven
