The Government Legal Department (“GLD”) is one of the largest providers of legal services in the Country and works with over 180 government departments and agencies.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Information Manager with experience of public inquiries/reviews to join the Public Inquiries, Reviews and Litigation ("PIRL") Team within GLD’s Litigation Group.

As a Deputy Information Manager your main responsibilities would be:
The PIRL Team is involved in a number of high-profile public inquiries and reviews. It offers an excellent opportunity to work in a unique area which deals with high profile matters that consider events of serious public concern.
· Acting as the key contact in the Inquiry Team for all disclosure-related matters, in particular liaising with:
o the Document Management System provider on all aspects of document management, disclosure, including queries on fields/access/coding functionality
o Core participants (CP’s) on all matters relating to the CPs’ view on the Document Management System
o Providers of Documents on all matters relating to the relevant workspaces
o The Inquiry legal team on key Document Management System related issues
o The Senior Information Manager to assist in managing and prioritising work streams within the legal and information management teams
· Managing and recording relevancy review allocations
· Maintaining an excellent understanding of the Inquiry’s processes and procedures relating to evidence and work alongside the Senior Information Manager in setting the strategy to manage the entire lifecycle of documents within the Inquiry
· Collating disclosure statements from Providers of Documents disclosure statements; managing correspondence relevant to rule 9 responses and organising the documents in the relevant folders on the Document Management System.
· Attending and contributing to legal team meetings
· Organising Relativity Training for the legal team as required
· Providing updates to CPs when document tranches are uploaded for CP’s to view
· Maintaining spreadsheets and providing reports on document review statistics to the Inquiry
· Ensuring the Inquiry’s information management processes in relation to disclosure and tasks related to this role are kept up to date
· Project and plan future priorities for the Information management (legal team)
· Become a Relativity administrator and work with members of the wider team to positively impact on workflows, and solve problems
· Organise and run transcription checking during hearings weeks
· Ability to design and implement procedural solutions, taking into consideration the views of the Inquiry’s various teams, and the impact on core participants and the public
· Work alongside the Data Protection Officer to ensure secure and compliant processing and respond to potential breaches
You’ll have relevant experience in:
· Good organisational skills (including the ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise own work in order to manage a busy and/or complex workload
· Experience of using Relativity (or similar eDiscovery system)
· Effective team working and client care skills
· An ability to work proactively and independently
· Ability to build good working relationships with colleagues
· A good working knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR (UK)
· Good oral and written communication skills
· Strong IT skills, an understanding of different technologies and adaptability to these, especially strong skills in excel
Other desirable criteria:
· Previous experience of working on a large disclosure exercise.
· Previous experience of working as an Information Manager on an Inquiry/Review Team, or for a Core Participant.
