Mission Information Exploitation Services (MIX) are located within Defence Digital to deliver innovative and successful capabilities to our armed forces worldwide, such as data and information services for weapons systems, command and control systems, mission planning & navigation systems and information management & exploitation tools.


Defence Digital provides digital and technology services to our Armed Forces, ensuring they can operate securely via radio, satellite, and the internet. Operating at scale, with an annual budget in excess of £2Bn and a diverse team of 2,500 colleagues, we're aiming to make our Armed Forces some of the most technologically advanced in the world.


Due to security and information access restriction, the role is only open to a sole BRITISH national.

Job description

In this varied and interesting role, you will deliver Digital and IT projects and services, drawing on your range of skills and prior experience. You will be working with one of the following MIX teams within Defence Digital:

IXD: The Intelligence Exploitation and Dissemination (IXD) programme enables effective and efficient direction, collation, processing and dissemination of intelligence, nationally and collaboratively. This ranges from Open Source Intelligence, through supply of processing and analytical tools, to the supply of the maritime picture and near real-time threat warnings.

The IMaGE (Imagery Intelligence and Geospatial Information) team in Defence Digital is responsible for the acquisition and support of a range of capabilities which inform MOD, deployed military forces and other Government Departments. These capabilities enable the National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence (NCGI) to provide crucial geospatial information for weapons systems, command and control systems, mission planning and navigation systems. It provides relevant and timely intelligence to commanders at every level, enabling them to develop strategy and achieve effect.

We are now looking to recruit Associate Delivery Managers to support delivery in cross-functional teams. You will have accountability for delivery of a product or part of a service or infrastructure and manage, allocate and track tasks performed by team members.

Tasks may include:

  • Planning - Oversee planning and forecasting knowing the different ways to develop a plan. Including reviews of scheduling and milestones
  • Risk and Issue Management - Actively address internal risks and issues and know when to escalate them. Track, manage, escalate and communicate dependencies. Actively remove or minimise risks, issues or dependencies where possible and understand how they impact the work of a team
  • Commercial management - Act as the point of contact for contracted suppliers. Understand appropriate internal contacts and processes within department. You know how and when third parties should be brought into digital, data and technology (DDaT) projects
  • Stakeholder Communication & Management – Can effectively translate and accurately communicate to technical and non-technical stakeholders as well as facilitate discussions within a multidisciplinary team, with potentially difficult dynamics. Can advocate for the team externally and know how to manage differing perspectives
  • Financial management - Understand the financial impact of the work you do and how cost and budgets are created supporting the Delivery Manager on financial aspects of the project
  • Life-cycle perspective – Understand and implement the needs of the team and the project across the stages/variation of the product life cycle.

This job role is suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station which is based on business assessment of where the work is best done) and working from home as a personal choice (if the role is suitable for this). If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
