Ambulance Care Assistant - Job Description and Person specification

Outline of the Job:

Centralized Ambulance Transport Services provides transport services to people aged 18 and above. We support the following activities

  • Admission to hospital
  • Discharge from hospital
  • Moving into a hospice or care home
  • Support with change of accommodation
  • Hospital appointments
  • Attending a family event
  • Any other personal engagement

The ideal candidate will have a strong team work ethic and a sense of accountability, accompanied by the ability to work under considerable amounts of pressure within a fast-paced environment.
Good assessment and communication skills and the right attributes to enhance the team are key.
The candidate holding a valid driving licence is important.

The successful candidate will convey non-emergency patients to and from their designated appointments in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. The individual will ensure the well -being of patients in their care from showing empathy and providing reassurance via assessing and monitoring patients’ physical wellbeing.

Responsibilities and Duties

Assist patients to access vehicle

Work in a single or double crew and be able to help patients with various mobility classifications

Ensure that patients have all relevant and necessary paperwork, medication, etc. Demonstrate care and understanding for patients and any medical conditions they may have.

Always maintain confidentiality and discretion

Ensure that when dropping off patients following their appointments/ discharge, they are left in a safe and secure environment

Inspecting and completing daily vehicle and equipment check

Person Specification

Experience from a patient-focused environment is desirable

Up to date first aid qualif ication is desirable - but not essential training to be provided

For insurance purposes, the candidate must have at least 1 years of driving experience in the UK on a full driving license

Must have no more than 6 live penalty points on your current driving license

Highly patient-focused in attitude with a caring approach.

Good communication skills.

NVQ level 3 in Health and Social care is desirable

Strong work ethic and willingness to go the extra mile to deliver good patient care.

Able to work both individually and in a team.

Good written communication skills.

Comply with all mandatory training including virtual and face to face trainings
