1625 outreach in Sheffield is a new and exciting drug and alcohol service! It is an innovative and forward-thinking project, with a proven track record of effectively engaging young people and young adults.
Our ethos is centred around the principles of harm reduction, providing a non-judgemental, fact-based information and advice surrounding drug and alcohol use. We aim to give young people the knowledge and skills to make informed choices, to keep themselves and their peers aware and safe when it comes to drugs/alcohol.
We have a fantastic new role for a
Community Connector to join our brand new service! You will oversee the 1625 Outreach’s volunteer & student placement programme, as well as our brand new ‘1625 Academy’, and as such involves a pro-active approach to recruiting, training, and developing the services volunteers & students on placement. You will need to expect the unexpected, don’t worry though, you will experience a lot of fun and enjoyment in this role.
Responsibilities:
About the role:
- Building & maintaining relationships with key community-based partners and stakeholders, networking and developing the trust of our partners/stakeholders in the service/organisation
- Work closely with the services dedicated outreach & education leads, supporting with community-based outreach & educational workshops across the city & county, as well as at organised events like music festivals, freshers, and pride.
- Lead on CGL’s SSV programme (Staff Supervising Volunteers), to ensure that volunteers are appropriately supported by their assigned supervisor
- To advocate and empower young people & young adults, with an emphasis on promoting the services ethos associated with the principles of harm reduction
- To work flexibly & holistically to meet the needs of young people, young adults, volunteers, students on placement, and the service collectively
- Work closely with the service outreach & education leads, to develop resources which are co-produced and collaborative by nature with young people & young adults
About you:
- Considerable knowledge & experience of working with young people and/or young adults
- Experience of leading volunteers and/or students on placement, with a knowledge of governance & best practice
- Working knowledge of safeguarding children & vulnerable adults, with an understanding of professional accountability
- Knowledge of local support services & referral pathways for young people & young adults, e.g., drugs & alcohol, sexual health, mental health
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to present complex messages effectively to a range of stakeholders
- Ability to contribute to the development of digital resources, such as social media & marketing materials (e.g., Instagram/TikTok)
- Confident, energetic & highly driven
