We are looking for a Circular Economy Manager to fill a Permanent opportunity based in Milton Keynes to provide professional circular economy advice and support to enable the Technical Authority, Regions, Functions and Programmes to manage circular economy risks and opportunities in order to improve performance. This includes leading the relevant circular economy strategic workstreams and supporting the business with the management and implementation of circular economy improvement programmes.

The successful applicant will be working within the Environment and Sustainable Development team, within Technical Authority. The E&SD team provide strategic guidance and support across the business and wider industry across the whole of sustainability, including social, weather resilience and climate change, low emissions and biodiversity.

What will your day look like?

The role of Circular Economy Manager is a multifaceted role in that you will undertake various duties including (but not limited to):

• Support the Circular Economy Strategy Manager by providing direction and guidance to the business on the strategy, through providing advice on circular economy related issues required to be addressed by the business.

• Implement the circular economy aspects of the national sustainability strategy working with all relevant business areas and the supply chain to enable successful delivery.

• Create and monitor the implementation of circular economy plans, standards, procedures and systems, regulations and statutory legislation across the business, to support the business to remain in line with corporate requirements.

• Provide input into the education and training of Network Rail staff whilst monitoring that they are fully aware of responsibilities for implementing a circular economy, in line with the circular economy strategy.

• Lead the development of relevant standards, guidance, tools and systems necessary for the implementation of a circular economy to the business.

• Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, liaising with regulatory bodies and other agencies, developing partnerships with NGOs, working collaboratively with contracting organisations to embed circular economy throughout the industry.

• Maintain effective liaison with Regions, Functions and Programmes, monitoring workstreams that contribute to the national strategy.

• Lead circular economy communications throughout the business through the development of internal and external communications such as cascades, briefings, lessons learnt, case studies, newsletters etc.

• Build the desired circular economy culture throughout the business unit to achieve continuous improvement and adoption of best practice.

Person Specification

The successful candidate for this role will be required to be/have: -

1. Level 6 qualification in Environment / Sustainability (degree level or equivalent experience)

2. Full member of relevant professional body (e.g., IEMA)

3. Proven experience delivering circular economy projects and programmes across large infrastructure organisations

4. Proven experience of successful engagement with internal and external stakeholders

5. Significant understanding of the legal framework for infrastructure circular economy issues

6. Ability to influence decision makers at all levels

• Location: Milton Keynes, you need to live within 90 minutes travel from this office or be willing to relocate in order to meet this requirement.

• Band & Salary: Band 3B – £44,690 - £50,276 per annum, plus benefits depending upon experience
