We are seeking to employ a number of part-time individuals who have lived experience of using our services and are committed to improving the safety of health services. We need motivated people to work alongside staff and patients/carers to co-design and implement patient safety initiatives.
This is an exciting opportunity to share your experiences and skills to help develop this new role and be a part of making a difference to care provided to patients.
Some examples of what you would be involved with include:
- Talking with patients and staff about safety and what matters to them, to gather a diverse range of experiences and ideas for change
- Helping us to make sure we consider and prioritise the patient, carer and family perspectives in everything we do, to embed collaboration and co-production in making care as safe as possible
- Supporting the delivery of safety training
- Being part of project teams working to improve safe care and our systems
- Joining safety meetings
- Helping develop patient safety information resources
- Supporting the patient safety team when reviewing learning from incidents
- Helping us to understand what we do well and how we can do this more of the time
- Raising the profile of this new and crucial role.
We will provide structured support and relevant training to be successful in the role.

- New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
- Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
- Appointment to this post is subject to the trust receiving satisfactory references covering 3 years of employment or study. Please ask your referees to respond promptly to reference requests.
