Job Description


Due to exceptional growth in demand for our services we are currently recruiting for an Associate Director to join our practice with a track record of defining and implementing sustainability requirements for sustainable infrastructure to join our Climate Change, Sustainability and Resilience (CCSR) practice.

Our CCSR practice has a well-deserved reputation with FTSE100 and Fortune500 clients, governments, financial institutions, infrastructure owners and operators for Net Zero Resilience and ESG technical advisory services. We support clients to understand how the future climate and transition to net zero needs to be considered at a project, business and city level. We produce robust carbon footprints and reduction plans for enterprises, projects and products as well as supporting climate change risk assessment and resilience and adaptation planning for infrastructure assets, businesses, cities, and urban master plans.

We also help clients with net zero planning, risk assessment, strategy development, project preparation, capacity-building, and reporting to support their ESG programmes. Our work provides clients with greater confidence in decision making, business planning and operation of major projects, individual assets, multinational portfolios, and cities. The practice works across a wide range of sectors including highways, rail, aviation, power, water utilities and urban regeneration, industrials, manufacturing, FMCG, chums/pharma’s, and financial services.

Role

We are seeing an increase in demand to both define and implement sustainability requirements for sustainable infrastructure. This covers a wide variety of areas from sustainability strategy and implementation plans, climate risk assessment and associated adaptation, net zero carbon requirements, workshops training and awareness and reporting.

The successful candidate(s) will be expected to:

  • Strengthen our position as a leader in climate change, sustainability and resilience for infrastructure and large-scale regeneration both in the UK and across the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.
  • Working with the Sustainable Infrastructure Lead, develop our climate change, sustainability and resilience service offerings with practical and viable solutions for our infrastructure clients.
  • Contribute to the delivery our ambitious business plan; growing our share of the market in infrastructure by winning work with new/existing clients in the UK and across the EMEA region and support the wider urban resilience and climate adaptation areas.
  • Support our infrastructure and urban design teams deliver more sustainable and climate resilient projects.
  • Ensure effective delivery through project and financial management for complex assignments.
  • Maintain high quality professional outputs.
  • Develop talent within the team through line management and mentoring and support the upskilling of our colleagues on climate change.

You will be supported by your line manager with regular mentoring and in continuing your professional development with training and support for chartership.

The successful candidate(s) will work collaboratively to deliver a range of sustainability requirements for infrastructure projects, as well as supporting senior leaders in the practice and wider Environment & Sustainability Business Unit to grow the practice. Qualifications


We are looking for established practitioners with the following:

  • Experience in defining and delivering sustainability requirements for sustainable infrastructure on major projects and programmes
  • Experience across a range of infrastructure sectors: transport, urban infrastructure, water/wastewater, waste, energy, etc.
  • Technical knowledge and / or training in a relevant field, such environment and sustainability or as a civil or environmental engineering
  • Proven track record in winning and delivering infrastructure sustainability requirements both in the UK and overseas (desirable).
  • Experience with leading and managing large programmes of work to deliver sustainability requirements on major projects and programmes
  • Familiarity with wider sustainability and Net Zero, and linkages with adaptation and resilience for infrastructure and urban development.
  • Experience managing teams including subcontractors in the delivery of technical outputs, and strong understanding of commercial aspects of project management.
  • A desire to deliver technical excellence.
  • A proactive solution-oriented self-starter who can design and deliver work under own initiative.
  • Commercial awareness for technical delivery, business development, marketing, and proposal preparation.
  • Experience in presenting at conferences and publishing knowledge products in professional journals or other channels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English with experience in managing stakeholder engagement events and workshops.
