What you will do

We are offering a full-time permanent advanced level 3 apprenticeship for aspiring engineers. This is a genuine alternative to university for people who have a passion for engineering and who want to launch their career with us.

Xcell Misting Limited designs, builds, installs and services innovative and bespoke Fire Suppression Systems to industry both in the UK and overseas. Xcell Misting is a leader in innovative technology such as LPWM systems in industrial and commercial Fire Suppression with a substantial and growing client list.

Outline purpose of role.

  • The applicant will become a suppression and fire engineer who will be assisting Xcell Misting Ltd engineers on their day-to-day work on-site. They will sometimes be left to complete junior tasks on their own after the processes have been explained to them.
  • The applicant will be helping with the larger projects and working alongside engineers to complete installations. The applicant will primarily be working on fire suppression systems, fire alarms, and other fire and safety system installations for both Commercial and Industrial properties.
  • The candidate will be spending most of their time on industrial & Commercial sites completing projects with the Xcell team. The candidate will be spending a lot of their time with other engineers at site, so they will be required to have brilliant interpersonal skills and to be a great team worker.
  • Scope for mechanical piping and electrical cabling and containment and connections also falls under this role. A wide range of mechanical & electrical solutions are undertaken by the team.
  • The candidate will be asked to fully document their progress to help them apply the techniques to future installations.
  • The candidate will be working full-time throughout the week and some weekends as required and will be allowed to take off holiday and study leave when requested.

How you will do it

The candidate will be matched with a Coach and Mentor who will work with them to assist them on their journey within Xcell Misting during the apprenticeship.

Details of apprenticeship

All Johnson Controls apprentices benefit from structured training and support throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. You will start your apprenticeship with the company induction to give you a strong foundation for success.

The apprentice will be enrolled on to the Advanced Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship duration is a minimum of 3 years depending on your prior qualifications and experience.

You will receive a blend of remote and in-person training during the first 3 years of the apprenticeship course.

Progression opportunities

There is the opportunity to progress on to higher or degree apprenticeships and gain further qualifications in the future to support your ongoing career development within the organisation.

What we look for

Entry requirements

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English at grade 5-9 (A-C in old grading system) or level 2 equivalent e.g., functional skills

Essential requirement

  • Full manual driving licence by start of apprenticeship start
  • Clean criminal record
  • IT skills; able to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Teams and Word
  • Genuine interest in engineering
  • Motivated to learn and develop self
  • Good team working skills
  • Able to follow instructions

  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a local assessment which will take place in May.
  • Full details for each stage will be shared in advance to allow for preparation.
