Business Area/Dept Overview
ABS/CLO Strategy team’s key mission is to offer differentiated value, ideas and solutions to clients and internal business stakeholders, by being trading-oriented and innovation-driven.
The team is fully integrated into the Sales & Trading business and covers all Securitised Products globally. It provides market views and trade ideas to clients through publications and works closely with BNPP’s Trading desks by generating trade ideas and helping manage risks.
Job Purpose
Will need to carry out the below autonomously, with the responsibility to report and escalate to line management where necessary.
- To deliver high-quality ABS/CLO analysis and support risk taking by producing commercial, best-in-class credit analysis, delivered in a client-centric fashion.
- To partner with the global Sales, Trading and Analyst teams in order to build and promote BNP Paribas’ franchise as credit house in Securitised Products.

Overall
- The Associate ABS/CLO Strategist role: assist in the production of the highest-quality ABS/CLO credit analysis, including tracking and interpreting key market trends, taking market directional views, working in partnership with Trading, Sales, Syndicate teams and Credit analyst teams globally, and bringing innovation to the market field.
Business & Clients
- Business. Produce high-quality analysis to assist the generation of high-value business and differentiated credit views, and gradually take personal ownership for its monetisation through risk taking and client flow generation. Support trading and sales teams in proving specific bond analysis and generating client flows.
- Franchise. Work collaboratively with Sales, Trading and other relevant areas of BNP Paribas to continuously build our brand as Securitised Products credit specialists and gradually develop a personal, strong, impactful franchise with the clients of the global Credit and Global Markets business.
- Risk: Identify high-impact credit opportunities and help manage risk with the Trading desks.
- Team: Be a team player, working collaboratively with the partners in the analyst team, trading, and sales.
Knowledge, Skill and Experience
EXPERIENCE
- Detailed knowledge of Economics/Finance/Statistics background.
- Strong quantitative skills
- Computer literacy and a good knowledge of a range of standard computer software and programming
- Strong interpersonal skills and a structured, methodical approach
- Effective communicator who can deliver complex and clear information, both oral or written
- Knowledge of specific principles and processes within Global Markets and ability to translate this knowledge and experience to provide recommendations to teams.
- Master or PhD degree qualification in mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering or finance/econometrics, with an interest in financing modelling or equivalent industry experience.
